Saggy Middle Boys

Hello. My name is Daniel… and I write bad stories. I can change. If I have to.

I came to the realization that I have 5 different novels in various states of unbeing that are all at about the 20,000-word hurdle.  I know whereabouts they should end and have the beginnings mostly how they should be but I seem to get bogged down with a saggy middle. This is something I’ve been working on by writing short stories. Still though. it was disheartening to see how bad my problem was.

On the bright side (for you dear reader), I wanted to share my pain.  Here is a rogues’ gallery of my failed (or not successes yet?) writing projects as they stand today.

In My Head, I Was Degrading

I participated in Wizard Jam 10 by Idle Thumbs. It’s the last game jam they are hosting and one I’ve always wanted to participate in. After listening to the episode, I decided I should make a game in PICO-8 since I own a license but never used it before. Things could have gone better. I ended up with In My Head, I Was Degrading.

Ponger Version 1.0 Release

I finally finished (for now) my version of Pong based on a Zenva Academy tutorial. I still have some things I wish I’d done differently but I think this is done-ish enough. It’s to a state where it feels like something I made rather than a complete paint by numbers project.

Time Cycles

Extra Credits ran a game jam recently with the theme of ‘Cycles’. I wasn’t going to enter but then there was a category for table-top role-playing games and suddenly I had a MIGHTY NEED to write a Hero’s Journey based storytelling game. So I made TIME CYCLES.

Making Journal 6

This week I finished making cards. I found a program called nanDECK that helps format card from a spreadsheet to a printable file. I already had most of the cards written in an Excell spreadsheet. All I had to do was format them and program the file.
